Fasson Roll North America, Painesville, OH, a div. of Avery Dennison, announced it is purchasing certain assets from the Spinnaker Coating facility in Westbrook, ME, which Spinnaker has scheduled for closure. The assets, which include pressure-sensitive material manufacturing equipment and other property, will be relocated to Fasson Roll Worldwide operations. Customers that purchase Spinnaker EDP, thermal transfer, and other products that will no longer be produced in Maine will be able to purchase comparable products from Fasson Roll North America.
The Pressure-Sensitive Tape Council (PSTC), Northbrook, IL, has named Peter Gabriele, Adhesives Research Inc., winner of the 2001 Carl A. Dahlquist Award. The Dahlquist Award is given annually for the most technically outstanding paper presented at the PSTC Annual Technical Seminar. Gabriele's paper, entitled “Infrared Imaging: A Complementary Tool to AFM for Adhesive Surface Analysis,” was selected from the 24 papers presented at PSTC's TECHXXIV Seminar in Orlando, FL, in May.
George Little Management LLC (GLM) has announced the resignation of Patti Stracher, VP and show manager of the National Stationery Show. In recognition of her contribution to the show and to the social stationery industry, Stracher will maintain an honorary seat on the show's Advisory Board. Lori Robinson replaced Stracher as show manager of the National Stationery Show at the conclusion of the May 2001 Show.
Dennis McGarry, CDC, has been named VP of manufacturing and technical programs for the Document Management Industries Association, Alexandria, VA. This is a newly created position.
FLEXcon Co. Inc., Spencer, MA, a manufacturer of p-s film and polymeric coated materials, recently celebrated its 45th anniversary. The event coincides with the opening of the FLEXcon History Room, a museum-like setting that provides a chronological retrospective of the company's growth.
