Martin Automatic Shows Line at Labelexpo Europe

ROCKFORD, IL | Martin Automatic will be exhibiting at Labelexpo Europe 2015, Stand 7A35, September 29–October 2, in Brussels, Belgium. The company will be running demonstrations of the MBS splicer and the LRD rewinder.

The latest version of the MBS splicer, reportedly known for its versatility in running a wide variety of substrates, comes with a standard package of features allowing it to run substrates from p-s label stock to flexible packaging. Company says the newly updated touch screen controls provide brighter, larger interface screens and production information along with expanded diagnostics that virtually eliminate the need for online access to the machines. The new touch screen matches that of the LRD rewinder, which is typically paired with the MBS splicer.

The LRD is a two-spindle transfer rewind that winds and changes rolls, and then unloads them, all automatically, without any need for additional roll handling equipment such as roll carts. The rolls are discharged automatically, either by the standard doffing ramp, or onto an optional articulating arm through the front of the unit if the product rolls require special handling. The LRD rewinder accommodates 800-mm-dia rolls in the standard model, with larger diameter models available.

“Leading converters choose Martin splicers and rewinders for their ability to handle a wide range of web materials and for their long-term durability,” says Gavin Rittmeyer, VP of sales and marketing for Martin Automatic. “[Our] roll changers also save money by reducing waste. If we conservatively estimate that a typical printer runs 3,600 rolls (3,000 m each) per year, we calculate that automation saves an average of 360,000 m of material, which equates to about 120 rolls each year. Providing our customers with this rapid return-on-investment and helping them to reduce their environmental impact with this equipment has been, and remains, our focus and passion.”

The Martin Automatic MBS and LRD machines being used on the working demonstration at Labelexpo Europe in Brussels have been sold to label printer Pilot Italia and will be delivered after the exhibition.
